Life membership.

On Monday evening, the 18th September, a number of special presentations were held.

Quite apart from the Grand Final for Winter Pennants 2023 (see separate post) and subsequent awards a little subterfuge was enacted to include one of our longstanding members on the evening's celebrations.

Vivienne Italiano has been involved with badminton since the age of eight, having achieved much in her many decades in the sport.

Viv has represented Bunbury & Districts Badminton Assoc at a National level twice in the under 18's team at the Australian National Carnival. She went on to be chosen in the Colts under 21's and, later, in the Senior State team to successfully represent Western Australia in the National Carnival several times.

Viv has also represented Bunbury & Districts Badminton Assoc in many local tournaments, including the Griffiths Cup, Leopold Shield, Dehring Cup, South West Shield, Higgs Trophy as well as many Country Carnivals.

She has held a number of administrative roles within the Association, including Vice President, President and Pennant Chairperson.

After injuries that eventually ended her playing career, Viv focused her skills on coaching others and has been assisting with our Junior programme for the last 6 years.

She recently was part of the 50th Celebrations Committee in organising for this year's activities.

Tonight Vivienne has been recognised for her commitment to our sport and awarded Life membership of the Bunbury & Districts Badminton Assoc. She joins an illustrious group of committed people who have achieved much personally, as well for others in their sporting careers. Tonight we salute her as she joins our select group of Life Members (with due deference to those who have passed):
