Winter Pennants 2022 Week 12 results

Aug 24, 2022

Bunbury Appliances continued their good form this week to complete a convincing win over the SW Isuzu Smashers. Captain Lee Scurlock fought hard to lift his team against a rampant Nathan Campbell and Chris Choi, who each won all five of their games for Bunbury Appliances. Appliances captain Bryn Tournay also had a good night with 3/5 wins as did Joel Gragasin, who lost a close singles match against Melvin Santo but nonetheless helped in their win.

Powerhouse team Rosemont Park Studs were too strong for Forrest Dental however the story of the night was the epic games involving team captains Steven Barron and Billy Wauhop. Some fine baddy skills were on display from both players and the scores duly reflected the hard battle that was played out on court. Young gun Derek Garcia played well for his team to notch up 4 wins on the night whilst Thomas Rowland and reserve Daniel Hamon were both solid contributors.

The SWAT team played ladder number four- Smash and Dash- tonight and this turned out to be the most even match of the evening, with each team winning 6 games. This meant that the win would be decided on points so a count-back was done that initially found the match to be a draw. However after further scrutiny it was found that Smash and Dash nearly did themselves out of a win with a simply scribing error that understated their points score by 4 aces. This was enough to tip them over the line for their fourth win for the season  and lift them off the bottom of the ladder. Well done also to first time player Sachu Kurian, who ably supported his team on the night.
