JUNIOR BADMINTON WIND-UP TOURNAMENT
No doubt
"Badminton" was the winner when the Annual end of year Junior wind-up
Tournament was held on Sunday 17th September, with a 9am start &
finishing at 3pm, it was an extremely lavish afternoon tea Party.
Once
again special thanks must go to Jane DePaoli who has been responsible for both
lunches & setting up the upstairs Party for many years-once a Junior
herself-her work has been invaluable.
The
tournament was played as a "Round-Robin" event and, being divided
Into 3 divisions, meant every junior was able to compete at their own level- in
singles to 15 points- and doubles & mixed doubles to 21 points.
The many parents
& family members present were able to see the results of the 22 winter coaching
sessions put into practice resulting in great sportsmanship & some fiercely
contested games showing all the new skills & expertise learnt.
The Sub-Juniors
(Subbies) joined in the day at 11am & were put through their skills, games
& special events.
The Centre seldom sees so much energetic activity with fun & laughter being the order of the day, mixed in with lots of flying shuttles. Junior Coach Robert Italiano expressed special thanks to Annie & Rusty for keeping the next generation of young Baddy players happy & involved on the day.
PRESENTATIONS
At the end of play
each Sub Junior was presented with a Medal & the happy looks on each &
every face was priceless.
The most
improved girl award went to Niamh O'Malley & most improved boy
was Dylan Lawrence. The Coaches Award went to Adnan Shaik
& a Special Encouragement Award went to Lauren Leigh from the
Senior Association.
JUNIORS
Tournament wins on
the day were shared by many players - (See separate results sheet) with most
games being won or lost by the smallest of margins. Derek Garcia who has been
