Junior Wind up tournament 19th September 2021

The culmination of this year's Junior coaching programme today saw junior players come out to show the skills they've acquired over the last five months.  Parents and friends watched both coaching groups,  juniors and sub-juniors, go through their paces in their efforts to do their best.

Many of the matches were extremely close, going down to the line. Time constraints meant matches were played to 15 with no resets, and this delivered some really exciting badminton.

Head coach Robert Italiano was delighted with the standard of play and proud of the endeavour shown by all players. The Coaches' award this year was later presented to Dan Lawrence for his great effort throughout the year, a young man who always listens to the coaches and tries his hardest to put into practice what he learns.

The very special "Jono Barbetti"award, presented by Mark and Marg Barbetti, recognises the best club person for the season. Matthew Goodlad showed the qualities in 2021 that typifies the spirit which this memorial award celebrates. Matthew is  always on time to training, is eager to assist coaches as required as well as being first up to volunteer to umpire games whilst always smiling and enjoying  his sport.

Most improved girl was awarded to Melanie Hunter, with Thomas Yadzani also recognised for his efforts in being awarded the most improved boy for 2021.

In the sub-junior group Elizebath Saju took out the most improved girl with Kayden Ramage showing great commitment in being awarded the equivalent boys accolade.

A special thanks to all the coaches for volunteering their time and sharing their passion with our future senior badminton players. To Head coach Robert Italiano, wife Minnie,  coach Steven Barron, past State representatives and current coaches, Mark Barbetti and Vivienne Italiano, the Association extends its thanks for helping to instill a love of our sport in yet another group of future players.

Thanks also to parents and supporters for coming along to cheer on our young players. In addition, thank you to the volunteers who helped with officiating matches, as well as running the kitchen to keep young energy levels high.
